Chef Matt Shipp graduated from The Culinary Institute of America after completing an undergraduate degree at Loyola in New Orleans. While attending Loyola he worked at various crescent city establishments and realized he wanted to go to culinary school. Matt began working in the kitchen when he was a young boy, he spent his summers working at the Dairy Freeze on Dauphin Island for $2 an hour and all he could eat. He moved on to work at The Dauphin Island Sea Lab cafeteria were he and a crew of southern ladies, which became Matt's mentors, prepared lunch for the students daily.
After Culinary school Matt opened his first restaurant in downtown Mobile. From there he and his wife Regina continued to pursue their love for food and the culinary profession. Together they have owned 5 different restaurant concepts in Mobile before moving to Orange Beach. Sushi to steaks, fine dining to casual, they have traveled the culinary highways that brought them to Shipp's Harbour Grill at Sportsman Marina in beautiful Orange Beach Alabama.
